Hi, I’m Allison (she/her), a graduate student currently completing my Master of Counselling at City University of Seattle. I strive to meet people with openness, warmth,
and deep respect for their lived experience.
As a counsellor I bring empathy and curiosity to our work together, which leads to a collaborative therapeutic style. I believe that we can work towards being our most
authentic selves when provided with a safe and welcoming space. Our inner worlds and intangible aspects of our lives deeply influence our mental and physical well-being and my goal is to help you experience the comfort of being in alignment with yourself.
I work from a person-centred, strengths-based perspective, grounded in the belief that
you know your own experience best. I’m here to support you in accessing your inner resilience, especially during times when it may feel out of reach. This means embracing everything from the challenging moments to the messy to the funny to the beautiful.

I have been working in the counselling field for more than 25 years supporting people with a person centered and trauma informed and strengths based approach. Most of my experience is working in a rural health care setting as a clinician and leader and I have also worked for Indigenous and Not for Profit organizations. My focus in counselling is to support you to reach your goals in a way that works for you.
I’ve learned that healing often happens in phases and that if a person is curious about working with a counsellor, its likely time to move into that next phase. I also believe that everything is connected, and I appreciate the complex relationships between thoughts, feelings, behaviours, interpersonal relationships, family and social structures and the environment.
I draw from many counselling modalities to tailor the right approach to each person. These include CBT, Mindfulness, Person Centered, Humanistic, Solution focused, and Response Based approaches.
One of the critical ingredients in your success in counselling is finding a counsellor who is a good fit for you so take your time to find someone that you match with.

I truly believe treatment is a collaborative partnership between counsellor and client. Together, we will design an effective plan that recognizes your personal strengths, challenges, and goals. I use warmth, humour, and authenticity in my approach to make each client feel comfortable and to build a strong, positive therapeutic connection.
I am especially passionate about supporting clients living with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), anxiety, Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviours (BFRBs), chronic pain, or those navigating life after a traumatic brain injury. I also enjoy working with clients to strengthen self-esteem and challenge negative self-talk that may be getting in the way of living life to the fullest.
For younger clients, I incorporate creative approaches-such as games and movement-based activities- to foster engagement and connection. I’ve received training in Expressive Play Therapy and use these methods to help children feel safe, seen, and involved in the counselling process.
Having lived and worked in diverse communities across Canada and internationally, I have developed a deep respect for culturally sensitive and unbiased mental health care. I aim to provide counselling that honours each client’s perspective on healing and recognizes all the elements that intersect to make each of us our own unique person.
While I primarily base my approach on Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, a wide variety of treatment methods and interventions may be used depending on your needs, personality, and preferences.
