I am a counselling intern at Island Clinical Counselling specializing in Body Focused Repetitive Behaviours (compulsive skin picking, nail biting or hair pulling) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity (ADH). My approach emphasizes practical management tools and self-compassion. In addition to individual counselling, I host workshops and monthly support groups addressing BFRBs and ADH. I am a cisgender man of colour and use he/him pronouns.
I am currently completing my Master’s in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University, but my journey started with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of British Columbia. This unconventional path to counselling has helped me relate to the clients who did not grow up with conversations around mental health or are discovering it later in life. I was born in Chilliwack BC after my parents immigrated from central China. My passion for counselling stems from overcoming my own compulsive skin-picking along with decades of shame and anxiety. To learn more, I welcome you to listen to Fidget, my podcast about my BFRB journey.
Outside of counselling, I enjoy making music, listening to podcasts, and backcountry camping.

Evolution and growth are an innate part of the human experience, but sometimes we get stuck. That’s where counselling can help. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, symptoms of trauma, self-identity, relationship issues, substance-use, or other challenges, we can co-create sessions that focus on your personal goals. I see it as my job to help create a safe and supportive space where clients can reconnect to their inner wants and needs. As we start to identify what we want for ourselves, we can then see how we sometimes act in ways that do not serve us.
As a certified clinical counsellor, specializing in trauma-informed practices, I blend person-centred and solution-focused approaches to foster acceptance and change. I use an integrative approach that combines inquiry, mindfulness, somatic and emotion-focused modalities, while focusing on the present moment. Core elements in my practice include consent, agency, and respect. While I continue to evolve my training and practice, you are the expert in your life. Together we can create sessions that fit your needs.
Counselling is an exciting and rewarding journey, and I am deeply grateful to have the privilege to work alongside clients. Making the choice to change and grow is powerful.

I understand the vulnerability and courage involved in reaching out for support, and I am so glad you are here.
I am a graduate student completing my Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy at Trinity Western University. I practice from an attachment-based, emotion-focused, trauma-informed, wholistic, and non-pathologizing perspective. I am excited to be an intern with Island Clinical Counselling, providing therapy to individuals, couples, and families of all ages facing various challenges.
I prioritize compassion and emotional attunement when walking alongside clients as they pursue healing and growth in a safe, nonjudgmental space. I desire to witness people experience restoration, hope, and flourishing in their lives here and now, believing people have the capability to experience change and thrive in their lives and relationships. Throughout my studies, I have particularly enjoyed studying Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model, Satir Family Therapy, and Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) and draw from these modalities in my practice. I have also gained hands-on experience and training in sand tray therapy with adults, adolescents, and children. I have personally experienced the power of having an attuned other walk alongside me in therapy and feel it is the greatest honour to be invited to journey alongside others.
Outside my work and pursuing studies, I love being outdoors (especially in the sunshine or by a body of water), buying flowers from local farm stands, travelling, spending time with my husband, family, and friends, and going for walks with my dog.

If you’re looking for a therapist to truly meet you where you’re at with validation and empathy, please reach out. I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) and a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC). My approach is flexible and integrative, adapting to your needs and situation, considering bio-psycho-socio-spiritual influences on your life and wellbeing. Together, we will balance support and processing with skills and resource enhancement, tailored to you and your goals. Working with children and youth, I adjust for their stage of development through play, activity and age-appropriate talk strategies.
I was “raised” as a counsellor in trauma-informed, intersectional, feminist theory which remains with me in my prioritization of trust and safety in the therapeutic relationship, efforts to level the power differential between therapist and client and acknowledgment of client wisdom, strength and expertise on their own experience. I recognize that we live in social, cultured and gendered contexts that present disproportionate concerns for gender, sexual, racial and cultural minorities and work to create a safe space for diverse folks in the LGBTQ2SI+, Indigenous and multicultural communities. I started in the social service field in 2005, spending much of my career supporting women and young survivors of violence, abuse and neglect, those with multiple barriers to housing and indigenous communities in northern BC.

I truly believe treatment is a collaborative partnership between counsellor and client. Together, we will design an effective plan that recognizes your personal strengths, challenges, and goals. I use warmth, humour, and authenticity in my approach to make each client feel comfortable and to build a strong, positive therapeutic connection.
I am especially passionate about supporting clients living with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), anxiety, Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviours (BFRBs), chronic pain, or those navigating life after a traumatic brain injury. I also enjoy working with clients to strengthen self-esteem and challenge negative self-talk that may be getting in the way of living life to the fullest.
For younger clients, I incorporate creative approaches-such as games and movement-based activities- to foster engagement and connection. I’ve received training in Expressive Play Therapy and use these methods to help children feel safe, seen, and involved in the counselling process.
Having lived and worked in diverse communities across Canada and internationally, I have developed a deep respect for culturally sensitive and unbiased mental health care. I aim to provide counselling that honours each client’s perspective on healing and recognizes all the elements that intersect to make each of us our own unique person.

I feel profoundly honoured to support people in their journey toward wellness. My approach is nurturing, respect-based, collaborative, strength-based, and trauma-informed. I specialize in working with trauma and PTSD. I am able to provide EMDR trauma therapy to children and youth as well as adults and couples. I love the richness of working with all people. Populations of specialty include: couples, men, middle agers, and elders. I am also passionate about working with people experiencing diverse challenges such as life transitions and aging, anxiety and depression, grief, relationship conflicts or issues, stress management and burnout, neurodiversity (adults and youth), and identity, sex and sexuality.
So often, people who have experienced one or many traumas also experience anxiety or depression, intrusive or overwhelming memories, sleep disturbances, hopelessness, and a deep loss of trust and confidence in themselves and others. I believe in creating a safe, nonjudgmental environment where people can be vulnerable and express themselves authentically. Together, we can rebuild a sense of safety and stability so people can manage their symptoms and heal their traumas.
I utilize a variety of modalities depending on the diverse needs of each individual, couple, or family; however, I am most proficient with Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Person-Centred Therapy and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). I am an ally to and for LGBTQ2+ and sex-positive communities and alternative life styles, highly respectful of all people from all cultures, religious beliefs, and walks of life, and I strive to apply a culturally responsive and socially just lens to all that I do. I am passionate about working with diverse couples and families.

Hello! I’m proud to be part of the compassionate team at Island Clinical Counselling, where we’re committed to walking alongside others on their path to healing.
My approach to therapy is integrative. I work with Integrative Body Psychotherapy (IPB), Somatic Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), and Solution Focused Therapy (SFT). It is so important to recognize the part our bodies play in our trauma and emotion. I am also a couples counsellor; I focus on providing therapy to those with attachment injuries. My approach is strength-based, person-centered and holistic. I feel it is important to work with a person on multiple levels so that deep healing can take place. I offer a warm and empathetic presence to my clients.
I found my passion for counselling and helping others through my journey in music. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Music, specializing in Opera. I have over 15 years of experience working with adults, children, teens, and families. I am passionate about providing creative and safe mental health supports that are encompassed within an honest, respectful, and attuned presence for my clients. Clients find my nurturing approach alongside them to be supportive, while they create meaningful change by connecting to themselves and others. I understand that human beings are complex with many layers that influence their beliefs, values and behavioural patterns – for example, family systems, culture and society all contribute to shaping our views of self and others.
